Peter Wright of Scotland became a two-time world darts champion

January 4. Peter Wright of Scotland won the World Darts Championship. The competition was held in London.

In the final, Wright defeated No. 9 seed Michael Smith, 31, of England, 7-5. The 51-year-old Scot had the second seed. Winning the world championship was the second time in his career. He won his first title in 2020. It was Smith’s second time playing in a world championship final, losing to Michael van Gerwen of the Netherlands in 2019.

The most frequent winner of the World Championship was Englishman Phil Taylor (14 times). The winner of the last tournament was Welshman Gerwyn Price.
